PSA: Nokia to Apple, your best isn’t good enough with the iPhone 5S & 5C

BT0XKN1CUAArIgd[ad#ad-1]So the iPhone 5s & 5C are have been announced and the fighting words are out. To be fair Nokia has outlined a pretty strong argument to detail what Apple brings to the table and how it really falls short to their offering and the competition as a whole.

·         Design: Apple added a polycarbonate exterior to the iPhone 5C, something Nokia has featured in the design of its Lumia devices for the past two years. (Clearly, imitation is the best form of flattery)

·         Screen resolution: The Lumia 1020 still has a larger and sharper display than the new iPhone 5S.  The Nokia Lumia 1020 has a 4.5-inch PureMotion HD+ 768 x 1280 display, compared to the iPhone 5S’s smaller 4” (1136 x 640) screen.

·         Camera and Video Experience: While Apple added optical image stabilization, a long time feature on Nokia Lumia flagship smartphones, the camera and video specs on the new iPhone 5S continue to lag.  To be specific, the Nokia Lumia 1020 features the best camera technology ever seen in a smartphone, including a 41 megapixel sensor, Nokia’s innovative PureView technology and six optical lenses by the renowned imaging experts at ZEISS, all coming together to produce the sharpest images of any digital camera on the market and amazing photos, even in low light.

·         Overall Value: The iPhone 5C was announced for $99, but to get to that price, Apple is asking consumers to make a number of tradeoffs (e.g., lower resolution screen).  In contrast, Nokia is bringing the latest smartphone innovation to consumers at a price they can afford—the Nokia Lumia 925, available from AT&T for just $99 with a contract, or just $30 down on T-Mobile.
