Molami Plica Headphone Review: Sound with Style
As soon as I saw a previous headset design by Molami, I knew I had to have one (Twine model, literally a headband style). But then I had the pleasure of seeing their collection in person this month at CES. We see lots of colorful trendy headsets around, but nothing truly sleek and fashionable. They are definitely a bit “manly” and clunky, so I couldn’t wait to try a quality headset with more fashion and flair. The Molami Plica headset, as well as their other models, does fit the bill.
Plica is beautiful! She (yes I said she) is made of soft napa leather, and comes in black or white. Each has beautiful copper accents, which stand out nicely against the black or white leather. Etched in the copper are the Left and Right labels. Molami’s signature twisted fabric cord is easy to keep untangled, and the texture adds nice detail to the mostly monochromatic style. On the cord is the microphone and remote. The only drawback with the microphone is that it is that it is flush on each side, so without looking, it is hard to tell if you are actually pressing the side that works. I would also love to see them include a protective case. So how is the sound quality? the low distortion drivers provide for crisp, clear sound. You KNOW I had to choose white, all the better to stand out against my dark hair. Another fabulous feature? The over ear cushions are washable. In my flurry to try them on, I started to get worried about makeup etc. Problem solved! Plica is functional and fashionable, not to mention a very reasonable price at $99.
