Ok Serious this is nuts in my opinion, running a marathon that late in a pregnancy. I don’t care if she walked half of it. That is plain risky if you ask me. But hey I am not the doctor who cleared her to run. But damn he ran with an extra 8 pounds of baby weigh. got to give it to her there

Amber Miller ran/walked a marathon Sunday and then gave birth to a baby. Slacker.

Nearly 39 weeks pregnant with her second child, she was cleared to participate in the Chicago Marathon — and darned if she didn’t finish the race, even though she started having contractions near the finish line.

“I got the okay from my doctor to run half [and walk half], and my husband ran with me and supported me along the way,”Miller, 27, told WGN from her bed at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Ill., where she was resting (the nerve) after the arrival of baby June. “I ran half and walked half. That’s how I finished.

“Everybody just kind of stared as I’m running by.”

Really, really, really?????? So Herbert Chavez a  Philippines native is a Super big Superman fan and had decided that over the past decade he would subject himself to surgical pain in to look like Superman. The 35 year old Herbert Chavez is trying to achieve a long time life goal of looking like the man of steel.

According to a ABS-CBN Filipino news report, Chavez has been undergoing Superman-ish procedures for 16 years now, including chin augmentation, rhinoplasty, silicone injections to his lips, and (my favorite) thigh implants.

I think he forgot the more important parts about trying to look like the Man of Steel; Superman is strong and built that way. So if Herbert had realized that;he needed to do a few more push-up and sit-up. Plus lift some weights here or there he might actually fit into the costume he is wearing in the pic above.

An Egyptian man in his early twenties has named his newborn daughter ‘Facebook’ following the 2011 Egyptian Revolution which was almost solely organized on the social-networking site Facebook. The father, Gamal Ibrahim, told the Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram that he gave his child the name to “express his joy at the achievements made by the January 25 youth.”

The Egyptian spelling of ‘Facebook’ is فيس بوك.

A performance artist has had a human ear grown beneath the skin of his arm as part of a project to share what it hears with people around the world.

Australian artist Stelarc took a decade to find funding and a surgeon willing to perform the procedure, and almost lost his arm to infection during the process.

The extra ear was grown by first inflating an empty pocket beneath the skin over many months before a basic ear-like structure was inserted inside. Once implanted the artist’s cells were encouraged to grow on the structure to build a real ear with its own blood supply.

Once fully grown, which will take another year, Stelarc will insert a microphone linked to the internet that will allow people to hear what his arm is listening to at any hour of the day or night.

With sumo in crisis over allegations of rigged bouts, a new national sport might just be emerging in Japan: competitive hole-digging.

More than 1,000 avid fans descended on a camping site on the outskirts of Tokyo on Sunday, with more than 200 teams competing in the Japan All-National Hole Digging Competition. At stake was the much-coveted Golden Shovel award.

The majority of the teams taking part in the 11th annual event were made up of professional hole-diggers, such as road maintenance crews and gas company employees, organizers told Reuters, although there were a number of all-female teams and squads of school children.

Calling this weird is a complete understatement

Over the weekend, a golfer’s routine swing in the rough at the Shady Canyon Golf Course in Irvine, Calif., struck a rock. Not so different from the way you play, right? Only this time, the impact caused a spark, and the spark set off a blaze that eventually covered 25 acres, according to the Steven Buck, General Manager of Shady Canyon Golf Course, and required the efforts of 150 Orange County firefighters, writes the Associated Press.

Wow. And I felt bad the time I shanked a ball through the window of a house too close to the fairway. That was nothing compared to this!

The golfer’s name is being withheld, which is probably for the best, and no charges are going to be filed. Fortunately, it all could have been much worse. As it was, the blaze required both helicopters and on-the-ground crews.

The conditions were ripe for a blaze, with dry brush from a recent heat wave just waiting for the right spark. Like, say, one caused by metal on rock.

These women were truly on a level of madness I have never seen

In 2008, BBC cameras filmed two Swedish sisters throwing themselves into traffic on the M6. When it was shown on BBC One, nearly 7 million viewers were glued to their screens, and millions more watched it later on YouTube.

The footage was shocking. One previewer wrote “On no account miss this documentary. It opens with what is perhaps the most extraordinary footage I’ve seen on TV”.

Ron Sveden, a retired teacher from Brewster, Massachusetts, in the US, had been short of breath for months and was taken to hospital in May.

Doctors found a grainy spot on an X-ray and he prepared himself for a diagnosis of cancer.

The 75-year-old said: “I was told I had a pea seed in my lung that had split and had sprouted. It is probably about a half-an-inch which is a pretty big thing.”

Doctors believe Mr Sveden ate a pea that “went down the wrong way” before sprouting to 12mm (0.5ins) in size. The warm and moist conditions are thought to have encouraged it to grow.

Mr Sveden had been suffering from emphysema prior to being taken to hospital. His left lung was found to have collapsed but doctors could find no evidence of cancer.

He underwent more tests over the next two weeks, but they all came back negative for cancer.

Mr Sveden added: “Whether this would have gone full-term and I’d be working for the Jolly Green Giant, I don’t know. But the thing that finally dawned on me is that it wasn’t the cancer.

“One of the first meals I had in hospital after the surgery had peas for the vegetable. I laughed to myself and ate them.”

Ben told yesterday how he was so shocked when Nmachi was born, he even joked: “Is she MINE?”

Blue-eyed blonde Nmachi, whose name means “Beauty of God” in the Nigerian couple’s homeland, has baffled genetics experts because neither Ben nor wife Angela have ANY mixed-race family history.

Pale genes skipping generations before cropping up again could have explained the baby’s appearance.

The rare spirits that went under the gavel at a recent online auction in New Zealand weren’t aged brandies or hard-to-find liqueurs.

Instead, two glass vials purportedly containing the ghosts of two dead people sold for $2,830 New Zealand dollars ($1,983) at an auction that ended Monday night.

The "ghosts" were put up for bidding by Avie Woodbury from the southern city of Christchurch. She said they were captured in her house and stored in glass vials with stoppers and dipped in holy water, which she says "dulls the spirits’ energy."

She said they were the spirits of an old man who lived in the house during the 1920s, and a powerful, disruptive little girl who turned up after a session with a spirit-calling Ouija board. Since an exorcism at the property last July led to their capture, there has been no further spooky activity in the house, she said.

The auction attracted more than 214,000 page views and dozens of questions before the winning bid, Trademe auction site spokesman Paul Ford said Tuesday. The name of the winning bidder was not released.

Woodbury said that once an "exorcist’s fee" has been deducted, the proceeds of the spirit sale will go to the animal welfare group the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

On the holiday known as the Day of the Dead, a Brazilian bricklayer walked into his own funeral.

The sight of Ademir Jorge Goncalves alive shocked relatives, some of whom tried to jump out of the windows of the funeral home in southern Brazil.

“In my 10 years in this business, I have never witnessed a scene like this,” said Natanael Honorato, manager of the funeral home in the Parana state.

On November 1, some family members and friends had identified the victim of a car crash as the 59-year-old Goncalves.

They scheduled his funeral for the following day, Dia de Finados, a holiday when Brazilians remember loved ones who have died.

What Goncalves’ family did not know is that he had spent the night drinking at a bar near the site of the crash, but he was not the victim.

When the bricklayer got word of his funeral, he showed up at the Funeraria Rainha das Colinas funeral home Monday morning.

Later that day, the mystery was solved when a family in a neighboring town came inquiring about a son who was missing.

The family recognized the body — and took it away for burial.
