Seems Like AT&T is not leaving anything to chance and are in the process of stock piling weapons in their 4G LTE war against Verizon. Reports from theverge, suggest that at CES we will see two new 4G LTE devices on AT&T network from HTC and Samsung. First of the is code name Radiant from HTC which is running a Pre-Tango Windows Phone OS and is LTE capable.  The next device is the Samsung Mandel, which is also a 4G LTE device , with a screen size larger than the 4.3-inches off the Samsung Focus S, with a Super AMOLED Plus display . We shall see how it all pans out at CES 2012 as AT&T is posed to take the fight to Verizon on LTE

The Verge is reporting that the Nokia Ace aka the rumor Nokia 900 will be coming to AT&T on March 18th.  That is a very specific date, but indications from Nokia points to an early US release for devices , with the pending launch of the Lumia 710 on T-Mobile. That the company is primed on releasing their Windows Phones stateside soon. The Nokia Ace will launch with OS Tango which is said to have LTE support.  The ACE is said to feature a 4.3-inch display, LTE and a 1.4 Ghz processor.

For Verizon fans, fear not, it seems the company will be get a Nokia device, though not what you were expecting, theverge is reporting that Verizon will be getting an LTE version of the Lumia 710, same device coming to T-Mobile on jan 11th.  it seems all hopes have been dashed for  the rumored 900 coming to VZW. We have to wait to CES and will find out more on what Nokia has in store

CES isn’t here yet and we already have renders for the Samsung Galaxy SIII. It look like a big phone. Supposedly it sports a 5-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display with a resolution of 1280×720 (HD). The device is only 9mm thick. House a  Samsung Exynos 4412 1.5GHz dual-core processor under the hood, and it will come in builds of either 32 or 64GB of built-in storage. The Galaxy SIII will be running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on board, with an update to TouchWiz 5.0. Other specs include a 12MP rear-facing camera, and a 2MP front-facing shooter. I most say this looks lie a monster of a device both in specs and physical size at 5-inches. Reports also state it will also have a stylus like the Glaaxy Note

Granted these are just mock-ups. But I will say Samsung is trying to push the boundaries of what a phone is. We will have to wait till CES 2012 or World Mobile Congress to see what Samsung Has to offer on the Galaxy S line of devices  with Galaxy S III

Ashton just tweeted, “I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail”

Word on the street via The Verge is that the Nokia Lumia 800 will be hitting AT&T but with LTE. Yes it  looks like AT&T is looking to increase its LTE range of smartphones with Nokia’ s Windows Phone device. A lot of speculations arose when Nokia decided to skip US launch this year. But it seems the Finish company wanted to tackle LTE head on in the states. As you know Windows Phone 7.5 mango is not LTE compliant. Though that could change with the Tango update or a specific Mango based update that includes LTE functionality. We do know the Nokia Lumia 710 is coming to T-Mobile. Lets hope it is packed with HSPA+ 42Mbps when it hits. And it stand to assume Verizon will be getting its own LTE variant of the Lumia 800 or maybe the rumored Nokia 900

The reports back up claims from Windows expert Paul Thurrott that Nokia will launch U.S. versions of its handsets in early 2012. Thurrott discussed Nokia’s plans during his Windows Weekly show with fellow Microsoft reporter Mary Jo Foley on November 3. “I have been told that we expect the Nokia U.S. plans to be announced at CES,” said Thurrott. Nokia is believed to be preparing an “Ace” Windows Phone that is similar to the Lumia 800 but features a 4.3-inch AMOLED display. Specifications of the device leaked in early October.
Tango is believed to be an interim release between Windows Phone 7.5 “Mango” and the next-generation of Windows Phone, currently codenamed “Apollo.” Windows Phone build 7.10.8200 was recently discovered in server side logs of a Windows Phone application. A screenshot, believed to be a Tango build, also leaked and demonstrated a new device search feature for Windows Phones. Microsoft’s chasis 2 specifications (Tango) will also include a 480×320 BlackBerry style design and LTE support. The software giant is expected to ship Windows Phone “Apollo” with 1280×720 resolution and dual core CPU support.

Motorola has been leaving hint about their new Droid Razr /Sypder. The have a second sneak is  hidden in an incomplete puzzle with the missing pieces added one-by-one as we get closer to the device’s launch, but Motorola left a full image of the phone hiding in plain sight. So what you see above is an ultrar-thin Verizon LTE device with kevlar backing and a Droid X-style hump on the top, a rear camera (presumably 8MP) with 1080p HD video capture, a front-facing cam, a standard set of four capacitive touch buttons and a redesigned Droid eye. We will get a full look at the device tomorrow stayed and follow our liveblog here.

Now that we have to wait a little longer to official see the Nexus Prime and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Luckily for us Romania website Mobilissimo.ro, has posted images and a video of  what looks to be the long-awaited successor to the Nexus S, the Nexus Prime. From the video it looks like the first rumored specs by BGR match up. the screen shots are indeed 720 x 1280 resolution and the camera looks to be a 5 megapixel camera. and a 1,750mAh battery. The UI is looks like a mixture of honeycomb and Gingerbread. With all the buttons on-screen and no physical buttons. From the looks of it the front facing camera has been moved further right of the device and the proximity sensory to the left.

We will have to wait a bit longer, as Google and Samsung have postponed their Unpacked decent at CTIA 2011 and we will have to wait a will till we see the Nexus Prime in the flesh. Till then, enjoy the leaked video below of the Nexus Prime.

So BGR stated specs for the Nexus Prime earlier today. But Gsmarena has supplied some updates to that.  Frist of the Nexus Prime will be powered by a dual-core Samsung Exynos chip clocked at 1.5Ghz. It also will have a PowerVR SGX543MP2 chip, which can be found in the in the iPad 2 (and quite probably on the iPhone 4S as well).

Instead of the rumored 5 megapixel camera, their sources claim (which I would expect) an 8 Megapixel camera with 1080p recording with some sort of improved imaging sensor. It also will house a 2050mAh battery (talk about big). The Nexus Prime will also be LTE capable but word is the device will house both a CDMA & GSM chip. Similar to the iPhone 4s

What we most like can acertain is the device will sport  afull HD screen with resolution at 1280 x 720 at 4.65 inches. Have I become cynical in my old age? Maybe my fanboyism to Android has grown out of hand? Or maybe Apple have just given their worst unveiling since the Newton. I concede that Steve Jobs who, to be fair to the guy, was one of hell of a sales person, is now absent from centre stage but it is no excuse. The very worst aspects of the ‘Apple machine’ seemed to combine together to deliver what was quite frankly a massive let down for all involved.

The Iphone 4S, does this change everything again, again? No. Granted it is a nice little refresh to the iPhone 4 but it is just that, a refresh. Had Apple unveiled it as a budget alternative to the Iphone 5 then it would have been all hugs and kisses, and I would have commended them for taking another leaf out of Android’s book. However as a stand-alone device the 4S is a woeful attempt to upgrade the Iphone, even I (someone who would rather pickle my left ear than buy an IOS device) was disappointed. I wouldn’t have minded so much if they had announced it as an incremental upgrade and at least mentioned the Iphone 5, but no. Not a sausage. How long until the Iphone 5 is launched? It could be next year, or it could be before christmas seeing as they have blown their previous launch pattern to smithereens. Thanks for making us wait 15 months, getting us all hot and bothered about it, and then leaving us to stew for god knows how long more.

The 4S itself is a nice little phone (little being the operative word) but it doesn’t contain 15 months worth of upgrades. Even IOS5 seems to me more interesting than the new device and I am a hardware fanatic. Apple can vomit up technical specifications and graphical benchmark results all they want on stage, but when push comes to shove I would rather hold a new (bigger) device in my hand than poke my finger at a piddly 3.5” screen and slobber over graphics which make little or no difference to 99% of my smartphone usage. The only games I play on a regular basis are casual, light addictive games, often involving irritated avian characters and their porcine rivals. I don’t sit on the train playing a hardcore game which requires me to concentrate and gawk at graphics whilst draining my battery in 3 hours flat. And I make it my business to play the latest games as I review most of them but still spend less than a few hours on most ‘hardcore games’ and I enjoy them on a 4.3" screen, not a 3.5" tiddler. Oh, did I mention it’s dual core? Much like many phones I could mention which have been out for almost a year. The camera is now 8MP with 1080p video capture, something which we have all seen before, but wait it has two antennae. Wonderful.

Iphone 4S aside, Apple also announced IOS5, or to rephrase that showed us a bunch of stuff they have already shown us, an iPod Nano with BIGGER ICONS! And some Ipod Touch’s which are now in white, splendid. I won’t even bother slating IOS5, but I do wish to mention SIRI, if only in brief. Voice control has been around for years, and it is a nice concept but in practise it fails in 9 out of 10 situations. It is so easy to type something into google, or to open your SMS or Email that voice commands make the whole process more difficult. Unless you are in the car, or are sitting alone at home, then it makes you look ridiculous and never works due to background noise. Also, more often than not, when I send an email I generally don’t want to announce it to everybody in the vicinity, heck that’s why I email instead of calling someone. But I have faith in Apple zombies everywhere, if Apple say it is the future then I look forward to walking into an office and seeing blurry eyed executives yelling corporate secretes into their phones whilst the one dodgy bloke in the corner asks SIRI where the nearest lap-dancing bar is.

All in all it was a disappointing day for tech fans, and it leaves me wondering if Google and Samsung are going to do the same thing at their little get together next week? I think releasing the Samsung Galaxy S2 with a new 3MP front facing camera, and a choice of two new lock screens in the UI of ICS would just about bring them up to par with Apple. I think it is unlikely, and I am confident that Apple will have to release a new device before next summer or risk falling even further behind Android, ICS running on quadcore in 2012 anyone?

I now understand why they chose not to broadcast the event live, can you imagine how boring it would have been for us poor unsuspecting civilians?


Last week they were rumors that Microsoft’s Steven Sinofsky would be showing of a Samsung Windows 8 Tablet during the company’s Build conf. Well here it is. As you can seen on the packaging indicating it’s a Samsung product. No word on specs but it is rumored to be running an Intel quad core processor. . The Build Keynote starts today(Tuesday) at 12pm eastern. More as news breaks

According to TMT warner Bros is keen and quietly developing a Batman/Superman movie ala worlds finest with the studio look at Henry Cavill and possibly Christian Bale starring as the Dark Knight in the movie

Sources tell TMT WB is keen on getting a Justice League movie going and still high on The Flash despite Green Lantern being neither the critical or commercial success they’d hoped for nor was it embraced by fans. But the studio is also quietly developing a Batman/Superman team-up movie.

In a classic case of covering your ass, what we’re hearing is two separate incarnations are being tooled. One version where the World’s Greatest Detective is firmly established and helps mentor an up-and-coming, fresh-faced Supes and vice versa. Essentially, they’re hoping they can woo Christian Bale back into the cape-and-cowl for a fourth time and in case the Oscar-winner tells them, “No thanks, I’m done!”, they’ll go for a new actor altogether. Both versions would feature Henry Cavill’s Last Son of Krypton.

The folks at thisismynext have uncovered a Samsung Smartphone  slated for this summer that looks like the Samsung inufse 4G with specs to rival the Samsung Galaxy SII.

Thisismynext crew has quite the spec breakdown:

this may be an indication why it seems there is no Galaxy S II coming to it mobile. Looking at the specs of the device, it carries a Dual Core Qualcomm chip when the Galaxy S II carries  Samsung’s Dual core Exynos processor. Time will tell.

Good lord Microsoft is on a spending spree here, looks like MS is using the Xbox Approach of buying themselves back to Mobile relevance. It might work here as well.

Firstly, the details: according to Eldar Murtazin, Microsoft and Nokia will enter talks next week to discuss the potential for the American software giant to purchase the Finnish company’s mobile arm, meaning the part that makes all those delectable smartphones. Eldar’s not been able to dig up any further intel, but expects a deal could be closed as early as the end of this year. We’re inclined to believe there’s at least some semblance of truth to Eldar’s words because of his track record. Way back in December of last year, when nobody believed Nokia would deviate from its Symbian strategy, Eldar reported the similarly incredible-sounding news that Microsoft and Nokia were in discussions about the latter using Windows Phone as its main smartphone OS. That turned into reality this February, and more recently, the Russian mobile spy managed to also accurately predict Nokia killing off the Ovi brand in favor of an eponymous naming scheme for its services. And that’s all on top of Eldar’s knack for obtaining Nokia prototypes way ahead of release.

Talk about swift corporate strategy, with an Ex MS guy on top of Nokia and the purchase of various parts such as Skype for $8.5 billion and their deal with Nokia. MS is looking to solidify its bases in the mobile arena. This is going to be big. More details as it develops. Microsoft press event on the 24th has now become ever more exciting
