The Steel Series Siberia V2 headset for the PS3 are one of the most comfortable headsets I have ever worn. It is light weight, comfortable and easy on the ears. The earcups feature a noise reducing foam, which helps you to focus on the important audio or voice communication, and not being disturbed or interrupted by outside noise; and they do work very well. The unit comes with a Live mixer which helps combine you game audio and voice chat into one channel.

The LiveMix levels range from OFF, which is unaltered in-game and voice sound to LOW (game sound is reduced by 5db when your teammates are talking), MEDIUM (game sound is reduced by 15db), to HIGH (game sound is reduced by 25db). By providing optional levels of LiveMix, users will have the ability to control how much of the game sound they want to hear balanced over the voice communication. How does Quick & Smooth UX feel?

Well it is as Sony calls it Quick and Smooth, but that pretty much it on the visual side of things. there are no UX visual Additives that you may find with other tablets. There several more additives to the OS such as a dock on the top left hand side  that can be customized with an quick launch app you want. Also on the top right hand corner next to the app tray launcher is an icon that say favorites. This allows you to access a slew of favorite apps, games, pictures, movies and more. This is more of a Sony styled area that is geared to give a sleek easy access area to your favorite applications and items on the device.

The Sony S Tablet also does come with DLNA support, and its very easy to setup. There is also a Sony remote control app, that gives you the ability through the Tablets IR functionality to control any Sony Blu-Ray player, Sony HDTV, Surround sound system

The system does have access to Sony’s Qriocity platform for music and movies, which at the time of the review was not available, which is a shame considering the rich content Sony has in it music and movie catalog. There are also a number of PlayStation Games on the devices, but no avenue to download more games, which I assume will be available once Qriocity is up and running for the tablet.

Conclusion.

The Sony S Tablet (S1) is a well designed and polish entry by Sony into the Tablet arms race. Sony has taken a slightly different approach to create this tablet. One where the deign lends to its use and looks to be  more of an in home device than one on the go. Which isn’t a bad thing. I must admitted the raised nature of the tablet does allow for easier viewing off a flat surface; meaning you don’t have to lift it up off a table.

On the down side, the lack of Qriocity at launch does limit the Tablet use and doesn’t full set it apart from other tablets. Though that should change once the service is activated for the Tablet. In all Sony has taken the right steps to create a tablet platform off Android Honeycomb and making it an entertainment centric Platform that truly feels like a Sony devices. The S1 tablet is a worthy buy.



Yes I got my dirty mitts on the Collectors Edition Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) Wireless PS3 Controller from PDP. First of these baby feels good in the hands at first touch, its got solid handle grips for the controller as well as a well pronounced d-pad. The control is light and the button feel comfortable. The Analog sticks are separated diagonally like a traditional Xbox controller. At least for me this is a good thing. Lets not get carried away, we haven’t spent enough time with the controller but it show does look good. The PlayStation controller layout is as you would expect. with your traditional square, circle, X & triangle buttons, a separated D-pad and two surface disks to mimic analog sticks. Conclusion

What do I make of the Sony Ericsson Xperia play. As a smartphone, it hands that well, running a stock version of Android 2.3. The device runs smooth and experiences little to no hiccups. its got a decent camera which takes good still pictures but I am surprised Sony didn’t include HD record to the device.

On the game side of things, its got very good hardware that full represent what gaming on PlayStation is all about. What a comfortable button lay out. Its good Sony add six title preloaded to give user a good idea of what to expect. The down side are the games themselves which don’t give a true representation of how power a gaming Platform the Xperia Play can be. Also the lack of connectivity to the PSN(PlayStation Network) is a missed opportunity by Sony. Not leveraging the value of the Playstation ecosystem to add more gaming content to the Xperia Play. which only has 50 games available to download via V-cast. Don’t get me wrong the Xperia play is a solid Android Smartphone and a good gaming device, but it really isn’t the best in both or either segments. which puts the device in the middle of the pack.

Sony just put Nintendo on its heels in the Handheld gaming Market with the announcement of its next PlayStation Portable. the Ps Vita. Which is a quad-core powered device, but has got a Price tag of $249 regularly or $299 with 3G from AT&T. (3G version sold only through AT&T). Seems Sony thinks it can capitalize on the poor sales of the Nintendo 3DS, with such aggressive pricing for the Vita

Sony has been hacked yet again. With only days before E3 and what we expected to be a see of apologies from Sony. This time its Sony Pictures, It seem that Sony has been hacked yet again.This has become an Olympic sport. This time LulzSec did it using an easy SQL injection, was ale to get Sony information. Not only did they claim how easy it was but even in the download of the file that not only contains all the passwords but also 3.5 million music codes the SQLi link for others to use

I would like to know when Sony decides to hire real professional to secure their systems. This is bad over for consumer protection and Sony as a trusted brand

What’s worse is that every bit of data we took wasn’t encrypted. Sony stored over 1,000,000 passwords of its customers in plaintext, which means it’s just a matter of taking it. This is disgraceful and insecure: they were asking for it.

Sony has reported they were hacked once again on their Sony Music Entertainment site in Greece. Over 8500 accounts are compromised with usernames, passwords, addresses and phone numbers stolen but no credit card number got yanked this time. Sony has shut down the website while its going through a security review of it and will re-launch when done. More reports saying that there are traces of unauthorized access in Thailand, Indonesia and Sony Music in Japan.

This has been hell for some the last few months. Starting  PSN attack they have hit repeatedly with a total climbing up to the 100 million account range and estimated cost of a $171 million.  Then the y had the PSN login exploits last week. Now fresh attacks on other Sony non-PlayStation sites.

the device you see is headed into the market soon, likely boasting Android 3.0 (aka Gingerbread), along with a custom Sony Marketplace which will allow you to purchase and download games designed for the new platform. The device snapped up top (and in our gallery below) is sporting a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 (a chip similar to the one found in the G2, but 200MHz faster), 512MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM, and the screen is in the range of 3.7 to 4.1 inches. No memory stick just micro SD ( Thank God)

Only 3D Game update will be available this summer

Sony’s going to release their 3D update for the PlayStation 3 this June, but there’s bad news if you were planning on inviting your friends over for a 3D screening of Avatar: This summer’s 3D patch doesn’t apply to blu-ray movies.

Tech Radar noticed the lack of blu-ray support in Sony’s initial 3D update. That doesn’t mean movie buffs are entirely out of luck, however; an additional update should be coming later this year to enable 3D during blu-ray playback.

As for the day-one lineup of 3D PS3 games, expect to see 3D versions of Wipeout HD, Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, PAIN, and Super Stardust HD. Other titles that have either been officially announced or heavilyrumored include Killzone 2, Little Big Planet, and Gran Turismo 5.

So Sony has finally entered the motion wars with Nintendo. ( I am sure under $100 means $99.99 MSRP). Seriously , is it called PlayStation Move.

GDC 2010

ony just officially announced the PlayStation Move motion controller at GDC 2010, calling it the “next generation of motion gaming” because it’s so precise — latency is about the same as the DualShock 3. As expected, it uses the PlayStation Eye camera to track the controller, and Sony says it becomes an “extension of your body.” The plan is not only to engage casual gamers, but to use the precision of the controller to create “new experiences for core gamers” — many of the demo videos we saw involved using a controller video in each hand, and there were quote a few demos of action / RPG games. We also saw a demo of Move Party, which uses the camera to do augmented reality gaming and video chat. The demos are pretty impressive — Sony’s not kidding when it says the Move is incredibly precise.

So the fight is on to topple Nintendo and the Wii with motion controlled games. I wish Sony Well, But entering a year were the Wii will hit $150 probably by Christmas and a PS3 with motion controls will still $399. Its going to be tough, let see how Microsoft will make its mark with Natal and if Nintendo will make improvements with motion plus
