Samsung Galaxy SIII disappointed

[ad#ad-1]The Samsung galaxy SIII is finally here after months of wait and delay. But the question has to be raised. Are you disappointed with the Samsung Galaxy SIII?  I ask this because, many have expressed the sentiment that the device toes meet up to expectation. What expectation are these? What specs are we referring to? Was the device over hyped? Or where we hoping for a smartphone that came with fairy dust to solve the world’s problems?

Lets take a look at the specs of the Galaxy SIII again:. It houses a 1.4 GHz quad-core Exynos processor, 4.8-inch Super AMOLED HD (720×1280) display, 8-megapixel camera with 1080p HD video recording and burst mode, 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera with 720p HD video recording, 2,100 mAh battery, HSPA+ (or 4G LTE, depending on the market), and Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) with the newest version of TouchWiz. All those specs are on par or slightly better than what is on the market today as we have seen with the HTC One X.

How about features:Samsung has added crazy, new, natural interaction features like Smart Stay and S Voice, plus a “pop-up video” feature that allows you to view a video while doing other tasks. In addition to those headline features, Samsung has added a slew of other features to Android to enhance the experience. The first is “S Beam”, which is built on top of the existing Android Beam NFC file sharing feature in Android 4.0.  Samsung’s additions allow a 1GB movie to be shared within 3 minutes or a 10MB music file to share in two seconds between two Galaxy S III phones — all without Wi-Fi or cell signal.  Samsung is also updating its AllShare feature, with a bunch of sub-features like “AllShare Cast” for streaming video, “AllShare Play” for sharing files, and a “Group Cast” feature for sharing screens with multiple other devices on the same Wi-Fi network. There’s also “Buddy Photo Share” for sharing photos directly to the people whose faces you’ve tagged in your gallery. Pretty robust if you ask me. Though if will confess I am not a fan of the device design, which I think has taken a slight step back in terms of appeal. Some will also argue that the HD display been pentile is also a step in the wrong direction. Still this are more fanboy picking points. So where does the disappointment come from

I think it’s a combination of several factors; from Samsung’s delayed announced, to the increase success of Samsung in the Smartphone market, To our wild imagination of what the specs could be. Argument could be made fro different point with the device, like the use of a pentile display, the design, lack of a camera megapixel boost and much more. But that would be nitpicking and looking for something to say. Samsung knew well we are coming to a point of little to no hardware distinction on top-tier Android devices and the separation here rest within the software itself. I think TouchWiz Nature UX address that to a large degree. But time will tell on how well the device will do. I personally reserve judgment till I get it in my hands. What are you thoughts?
