HARDWARE

The Epic 4G like the on the Samsung Vibrant devices is a well built device, with smooth rounded edges. The first thing of not is how light the device feels; even when packed with a full slide out QWERTY keyboard. The keyboard is comfortable and easy to use, with well flushed out keys and logical key placements. The overall hardware feel is solid and continuous in every way. I also love the emoticon button available on the QWERTY keyboard

Camera & Pictures

Within the full review are two 30 sec clips shot with the 5MP camera. The addition of a flash does help greatly with night time recording. The camera setup and features are similar to the vibrant and below we have some pictures taken from the camera.

Battery Life Test:

Battery lasted a full day on a single charge to about 20% on modarate use. Clocked form 8am to 11.30pm

Battery lasted half a day on single charge to about 10% on heavy use. Clocked from 8am to 5pm ( full work day)

Battery life is good. But if you are a heavy user you will most likely have to charger the device one extra time

GPS works with an issues

Conclusion

The Epic 4G does live up to its name “Epic”.  Providing a full QWERTY keyboard experience while maintain would we have come to expect from Samsung’s Galaxy “S”: line of Android phones. There are few things I will fault on device, such as the lack of internal memory which is present in the Vibrant ( though you do not notice any slow down or difference). Also the device heats up slightly on heavy activity for short periods of time but cools of quickly.

The Epic 4G truly is a wonderful device from Samsung and does fully compliment Sprints current Android offerings. If you are looking for an Android phone with a full QWERTY keyboard that packs a punch, easy to use and is plain sexy; then you have to go with the Epic 4G

I have watched and read nearly every review of the Epic and yours is
by far the best and most helpful.

Although I am myself a somewhat advanced user I also try to see reviews
from the “non-geek” perspective as well and your review, unlike most others,
    satisfies both.

Keep up the excellent work! You’ve made my bookmark list.

    Hi Enobong!

Super review! Very helpful and much more hands on than what else is out there.

I will be moving to the Epic on Tuesday morning at 8am sharp, from a Blackberry. I get my work email through Outlook from the Blackberry Enterprise server.
Is anyone able to tell me how I will get my Outlook email on the Epic. I recall reading somewhere that there’s a workaround but not sure how to do it or if it’s even possible.
Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks, mj
