Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi was taken to a hospital after being punched in the face at a rally in northern Italy, a spokesman said Sunday.
Berlusconi was shaking hands with supporters after stumping for a local political ally in Milan when someone in the crowd hit him, said Roberto Gasparotti, a spokesman for the scandal-dogged premier.
Berlusconi did not lose consciousness, but his face was cut and bleeding when he was rushed to the hospital, Gasparotti told CNN.
